Mad Art: TRACES

IMG_2587

TRACES, Mad Art’s 15th year anniversary exhibition, opened Saturday, January 23rd with an unexpected, outstanding performance. Presented by St. Louis curator Ellie Balk, this two-month long show will feature new work from Jacob Berkowitz and Hubert Dobler.

St. Louis artist Berkowitz is known for his large scale monochromatic abstract paintings done with a proprietary dry brush technique. Dobler, Austrian-born New York-based artist, will be showcasing the medium for which he is most known: motorcycles. As you can see in the video, a Honda CB550 motorcycle is installed from the ceiling then released in order to create burned rubber marks on primed panels– a truly remarkable performance.

TRACES will be on view at Mad Art Gallery until March 19, 2016. Free and open to the public. Closing reception Saturday, March 19 7-11PM.
