Three Amigos Head to Nashville Fashion Week

I never realized until recently that fashion weeks are held all over the world in many different shapes and sizes. Milan, Paris, New York and London aren’t the only ones doing it. I find that really refreshing. Supporting local designers in a community while also brining in international designers is enriching for both local culture and economy.

According to EconomicDevelopment.org, former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg once stated that Fashion Week brings in over $800 million dollars annually. This number is not based purely on the apparel and accessories being marketed, displayed and sold during the course of events, but also accounts for the food, accommodations, services and money spent by those visiting. Now imagine that on a smaller scale in your own city, like St. Louis or Nashville. The opportunities are endless!

St. Louis Fashion Week has really sort of blown up the past year. The people at ALIVE Magazine have done a great job getting talented designers and planning meaningful, memorable events. This past STLFW season I met St. Louis native and Co-Founder of Nashville Fashion Week Marcia Masulla. After speaking with Masulla, I found out that Nashville Fashion Week is actually a thing and she invited some St. Louis fashion aficionados/bloggers down to experience it for ourselves. I jumped all over that opportunity!

Now the time has come and I cannot wait! NFW events officially kick off today, though I won’t actually be there until Thursday. Robby Baker of The Subtle Savant and Marisa Lather of Vogue Rhythm will be joining me on my adventure to Fashion Music City.

NFW is a lot like STLFW in a sense that it’s a city-wide celebration of Nashville’s thriving fashion and retail community and its vast array of creative talent. Featuring local, regional and national designers and industry professionals in an array of creative events throughout the week encourages both Nashvillians and visitors to explore the city’s diverse fashion and retail spaces with promotions, partnerships and educational workshops.

Here’s a rundown of NFW events:
