My New York Fashion Week (NYFW) journey begins Monday! Many firsts for me on this trip- first time to New York and first time attending NYFW shows. It will be a mix of learning experiences, business and a whole lotta fun!
NYFW is held biannually in February and September, which hosts a multitude of events for international and domestic designers in hopes to gain meaningful coverage on their new collections. NYFW is a general term, hosting many branded events like Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week (MBFW), Made Fashion Week (MADEfw) and other independent productions all around the great city of New York.
ALIVE Magazine Marketing Manager, Lindsay Pattan, and Fashion Editor, Sarah Stallmann, plus other local bloggers and contributors, including myself, will be using #ALIVEatNYFW on both Twitter and Instagram for you to follow along on all our NYFW adventures. Regional blogger network Well Dressed Midwest, powered by ALIVE Magazine, will also be highlighting NYFW events through #WDMNYFW.
My schedule is filling up with amazing shows. To be honest, I thought I’d get into maybe one or two shows. Well, I’ve exceeded my expectations with a total of 7+ shows just on Tuesday alone. Woe is me, right?
I’ll be in New York September 8-11. Here are the shows I’ll be covering:
Monday, September 8
3pm Backstage at Korto Momolu
7pm Maison Kitsune
Tuesday, September 9
9:30am Vivienne Hu
1pm Collina Strada
2pm Cynthia Rowley
3pm Pamella Roland
9pm Michael Costello
(This list is subject to change as last minute invites could possibly roll in.)
I’m actually a bit relieved that I don’t have any shows planned (yet) for Wednesday and Thursday so I can see some friends living in NYC and do some actual blogging. I’m also looking forward to visiting some NYC exclusive shops while I’m in town-Catbird, Obscura and Birchbox SoHo– to name a few. Sleep is not an option for this trip.
