Saturday night top St. Louis fashion experts will decide which designer has what it takes to win a $15,000 prize and a spot on the runway in ALIVE Magazine’s Saint Louis Fashion Week. It all takes place at Saturday, August 2nd at Gallery 400, 7:00pm.
Pins and Needles aims to find the best new fashion design talent and provide a high-profile launching pad for their careers. This year’s event will be co-hosted by Paulie Gibson, local designer who was featured in ‘America’s Next Top Model’. Gibson will also be showcasing his F/W ’14 collection.
Both local and regional designers will compete on the Pins and Needles runway, including St. Louis designer Jacqueline Madey of Jacqueline Nicole, Nikki Fizer of No Human Intentions from Kansas City, Truly Alvarenga of Pink Elephant Designs from Nashville and Jummy Thomas of Olá from Minnesota.
Mixing embossed crocodile velvet and faux leather for her Fall ’14 collection, Jacqueline Madey creates pieces for the busy, contemporary woman. I look forward to seeing Jacqueline Nicole’s dark fall silhouettes on the runway.
No Human Intentions had me at “clothes for the morally impaired.” Designer Nikki Fizer of Kansas City takes pride in her 100% original and unique period designs. Fizer’s one of a kind designs have sold all over the world and have been featured in numerous magazines, books and is an internationally published designer.
Pink Elephant, designed by Truly Alvarenga, will be gracing Gallery 400’s runway with plunging necklines, lace and spikey leather jackets. Alvarenga, Nashville native, has been creating radical couture since 2009. Prepare for mild to wild all in one collection.
Olá by Jummy Thomas of Minnesota brings stylish west-African inspired special occasion designs to the Pins and Needles runway. With little luck searching for more on Olá, let’s say I’m excited to see more of Thomas’ designs at the show.
Brainchild Events and ALIVE Magazine have partnered up to bring Pins and Needles to life. And, I know ALIVE Magazine can throw a damn good fashion show. Buy your tickets in advance here, $10 general admission and $15 VIP (includes cocktails). Get your game face on. See you at the show!
